There was excitement in Canterbury this morning (Friday 16th December 2011), as snow started to fall just after 9am.

Residents took to Twitter to spread the word, however the fun was short-lived.
Due to earlier rain the snow had no chance of settling and then the snowflakes disappeared completely to make way for more wet weather.
The bad news for snow fans is it seems that was it - neither BBC Weather or the Met Office are predicting anymore snowfall for Canterbury in the next few days and a white Christmas is looking very unlikely.
It will be cold though - with temperatures due to drop close to freezing over night, meaning motorist should be cautious to avoid icy patches, especially on minor roads.
