Friends have been telling me for ages that I'd like this place but for some reason I wasn't really convinced - until I went there. It's really nice and can be a bit of fun if you're downstairs. There's also lots of choice, even if you don't eat meat.

If you like Moroccan this is for you.
Great atmosphere and good food with excellent service. Can't fault it.
More expensive than Azouma but better service and right in the heart of Canterbury.

Café Mauresque in Butchery Lane is a great restaurant. I used to come here a lot as a student due to the discount, and I continue to come back for the delicious food – it’s great to have something different now and then, and I agree with HanaSSmith about the seafood paella.
Cafe Mauresque is a gem of a restaurant that can be found in Butchery Lane, Canterbury. They specialise in Moroccan-inspired food, with the succulent pork belly a particular favourite for many visitors. The restaurant is imaginatively-lit, and the decor gives off the right sense of the exotic without being tacky.

ReportWith a really lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, Cafe Mauresque is a great find whatever the occasion. With student and resident discounts it's brilliant value for fun lunches or romantic dinners. The food is excellent and exotic, with great Seafood Paella and Sangria recommended in particular.
