I go to the Canterbury branch of KFHS which meets every 2nd Friday in the month except January.
I arrived early at 7pm on my first visit and as a newcomer I asked one of the regulars some questions and they helped me get started. Now I am a regular too and particularly enjoy going on the coach trips up to Kew which the branch runs abut twice a year for only £18 per head. Up as Kew I research ancestors in The National Archives but sometimes when the weather is really lovely I get off and visit the Botanic Gardens. Many Thanks to Cantiaci for your kind message regarding our branch activities; it makes all the hard work that goes in to the branch worthwhile!
While on the subject of our branch meetings, our next one is on Friday, 9th September, Kendall Hall, Nunnery Fields, 7pm for 7.50pm. Our speaker is Lady Mary Teviot (former Federation of Family History Societies President and one of BBC's 'Heir Hunters'), on the subject of London Sources. If you think your ancestors may have been Cockneys, come along to find out how to track them down! Entry is free for members, or only £1 for non-members.
We also have a handful of seats left on our trip to the National Archives or Kew Gardens on Tuesday 13th September- see http://tinyurl.com/3u438u5 for full details of our events.
