Police are appealing for witnesses after two men approached a 19-year-old woman in the early hours of last Friday morning (27 August 2010) in Bridge High Street and harassed her.

The girl was on her way home after a night out in Canterbury and had been dropped off by a taxi near the Red Lion. As she was outside the pub at 2.30am two men from a group of about seven approached her.

The two told her they knew her name and address and as she tried to walk away one of the men grabbed her leg and pulled her hair. She called the police and the two ran off with the rest of the group down Patrixbourne Road.

One of the men is described as black, aged about 20 to 21, 5ft 5ins tall and wearing a grey hooded top and grey jogging bottoms. The other was older – about 30 to 40, white, greying hair and about 6ft tall.

Officers are also trying to trace the taxi driver and urge him to come forward as he could have seen the men in the area after he dropped off the woman.

Anyone with information should contact PC Richard Lorimer on 01227 868379 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

This is really awful. Everyone has the right to feel safe when walking home. I hope they catch them.
