Kent Police are investigating the theft of a whippet - no a real dog, but a stone orament in the shape of one.

The statue went missing from a garden in Westbere at some point betwen 10am and 6pm on Thursday December 22nd 2011.

The stone dog, which stood guard outside the house in Walnut Tree Lane, is about 2.5ft tall, believed to be 40-50 years old and is one of a pair - it's valued at around £125.

If you have any information you can call Kent Police on 101 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference number ZY/3767/11.

What is the world coming to? These people should be ashamed of themselves.

The police have now found this statue - sadly it was broken in two.

Why would anyone want to do something like this? It's obvious this statue has sentimental value but can't be worth much to any thief, surely? What an awful, pointless thing to do.
